This very moment as you’re reading this, an Asteroid is hurtling toward Earth, as with previous recent close calls this asteroid is expected to miss Earth by a very small margin, on June 27th at 9:30 a.m. eastern daylight time the asteroid will pass by our little planet with just 7,500 miles between it and us, a distance in space like that of a fly passing an inch in front of your face.
According to NASA the asteroid will come so close to our home planet that it’s trajectory will be dramatically altered by the Earth’s gravity. The asteroid is estimated to be between 5 and 20 meters, and if everything goes as expected it should be bright enough to see through your telescope, if while watching the asteroid you see it continue to appear larger and larger you are advised to step away from the telescope, and head for the nearest underground cave.
